Stoneway Goes Red for Women!
Why Go Red? To join the American Heart Association’s Go Red For Women® movement to help raise awareness and save more lives. Heart disease and stroke cause 1 in 3 deaths among women each year, killing approximately one woman every 80 seconds. Fortunately, we can change that because 80 percent of cardiac and stroke events may be prevented with education and action. That’s why this year we’re asking for your help to show support for friends, family, and women with heart disease and stroke in our community.
Join Stoneway Electric Supply in wearing red on National Wear Red Day® Friday, February 5, 2016. Encourage others to do the same! Schedule a Well-Woman Visit, a prevention check-up to review a woman’s overall health so her doctor can measure blood pressure, check cholesterol and look for signs of heart disease, stroke and other illnesses.

Honor Flight – One Last Mission
Interview with Chris Provo, Branch Manager of South Seattle Stoneway Electric Supply.
What is Honor Flight?
Honor Flight is a national non-profit organization created solely to honor America’s veterans for all their sacrifices. Through a network of nearly 140 Hubs located in 43 states Honor Flight volunteers transport our heroes to Washington, D.C. to visit and reflect at their memorials. Top priority is given to World War II survivors as this Greatest Generation is quickly slipping away.
Is there a cost to the veteran to participate?
This trip is free to the veteran and made possible solely through individual donations from caring citizens and generous corporate partner support. No Federal funds are allocated to this program.
What inspired you to get involved with Honor Flight?
My father was a World War II veteran and served in the 517th Parachute Regimental Combat Team but never talked about it much. After he died I learned of his involvement in some of the epic battles in WWII from France to Bastogne to Germany. My friend and colleague Jeff Corrick, President of Stoneway Electric Supply, introduced me to Honor Flight and their mission resonated with me instantly. Jeff was spot on when he thought I would be interested. I had to be involved!
What role do you play with Honor Flight?
Jeff serves as Treasurer on the Board of Directors for Inland Northwest Honor Flight in Spokane, Washington. Through Inland Northwest Honor Flight, 1062 veterans have travelled to Washington D.C. since November 2009.
Shortly after I contacted the newly founded Puget Sound Honor Flight in my area I was invited to join their Board of Directors. Serving these veterans is a privilege. The thanks of a grateful nation will forever be in our hearts. Honor Flight offers a way to turn our deep-felt thanks into actions that show these amazing heroes just how much we appreciate their sacrifices and tell them each in person that we will never forget.
Do you have a favorite quote as you reflect on your involvement with Honor Flight and the impact the veterans have had on our nation?
I’m truly honored and humbled to be able to participate in this worthy cause. One of my favorite quotes is: “We can’t all be heroes. Some of us will have to stand on the curb and clap as they walk by.” – Will Rogers
What advice do you have for those who may want to learn more or would like to get involved in their local Honor Flight Hub?
Honor Flight welcomes the many generous, committed volunteers who will work hard to provide our World War II heroes with a trip of a lifetime. Each flight requires a tremendous amount of behind the scenes preparation. Volunteers might be asked to assist with send-off and welcome home celebrations at the airport, attend information booths at events, organize a fundraiser, or help with general mailing and clerical work. To contact your local Honor Flight Hub visit: www.honorflight.org.
Also, if you know of someone who is a World War II veteran or a veteran with a terminal illness, please visit your local Honor Flight Hub’s website to find an application and send it in.
