Detailed Description: 3M Scotch® 2228 Series Professional/premium grade mastic tape in black color is made of ethylene propylene rubber backing material for longer durability and strength. It is self-fusing, sealing tape designed for insulation applications that require greater mechanical strength and abrasion resistance. It measures 10 ft x 2 Inch. It features an excellent adhesion with mastic and sealing characteristics with copper, aluminum and power cable jacket materials. It is flexible over a wide temperature range and is compatible with solid dielectric cable insulations.

Mastic is recommended for primary electrical insulation for cable and wire connections, electrical insulation and vibration padding for motor, primary electrical insulation for bus bar connections, padding for irregular shaped bus bar bolted connections, moisture seal for cable and wire connections, service drops, ground wire and rod connections. It has thick construction that allows quick application build-up and padding over irregular connections. It has maximum dielectric strength of 500 milli-Volts and tensile strength of 9.8. Tape is UL listed and CSA certified.
