Dimension: Cable Diameter: 0.550 - 1.180 Inch, Connector Length: 5 Inch, Relaxed Tube Length: 9 Inch
Open-ended, tubular, rubber sleeves which are factory expanded and assembled onto a removable core
The core is removed after the tube has been positioned for installation over an inline connection, terminal lug, etc allowing the tube to shrink and form a water-resistant seal
The insulating tube is made of EPDM rubber which contains no chlorides or sulfur
Simple installation, requires no tools
No torches or heat required, good thermal stability
Seals tight, retains its resiliency and pressure even after prolonged years of aging and exposure
Excellent wet electrical properties
Detailed Description: 3M Electro products cold shrink connector insulator prevents cable from moisture ingress and provides protection. The Cold shrink EPDM splice is used for primary insulation on low voltage cables and cable splices rated up to 1000 V AC. Splice accommodates 2/3/4 AWG and 250 kcmil sized wires that are made of aluminum/copper. It finds applications in primary electrical insulation for all solid dielectric, insulated wire and cable splicing rated up to 1000 Volts, direct burial or submersible, physical protection and moisture sealing for air-insulated connectors and lugs, insulation of secondary splices, copper or aluminum conductors, relocation of service, dig-in repairs, sheath repairs, environmental sealing for communication and other non-electrical applications, insulation of inline conductor transition connectors. It meets the requirements of ANSI C119-1 and Western Underground Guide 2.14 for secondary splices rated up to 1 kilo-Volts.

Catalog Description | 3MÖ Cold Shrink Connector Insulators 8420 and 8430 Series are designed using 3MÆs proprietary cold shrink delivery system. Products are supplied prestretched on a removable core for efficiency and ease of installation. Removal of the core (unwinding) after positioning the splice allows the product to shrink into position forming a moisture-tight seal. The live memory action of the specially formulated EPDM material promotes a permanent, durable environmental seal and insulation, with a typical operating temperature range from -40û194¦F (-40û90¦C).The 8420 insulator meets requirements of ANSI C119-1 and Western Underground Guide 2.14 for secondary splices rated up to 1 kV.Applications: Primary electrical insulation for all solid dielectric (rubber and plastic) insulated wire and cable splicing rated to 1000 V. Good for repairs and environmental sealing for communication and other non-electrical applications.Important: Use insulation jacket or connector O.D. for final ordering criteria.* Mastic pads included for cable O.D. build-up. ** Kit contains adapters. *** These sizes are listed for availability only and are not designed to be usedas primary insulation. These tubes are for conduit sealing and breakouts. ****Maximum connector length: 5.625Point of Purchase packaging designated by P. Example: 8423-6P |
